DIY

I had a DIY Friday evening. DIY seems to be like the thing to do now, but I do not associate myself with the term and generally try to stay away from it. I do not mean to sound disrespectful to the many talented and loyal DIYers.
Even though I try to pretend like I do not know what DIY stands for secretly I have always been a crafty, Martha Stewart loving person to some extent. I know how to make perfect hospital corners, I can do my hair, code a website, while I teach myself how to silkscreen as I knit a scarf all at once, and I secretly have a power drill Estate Side. That was a little obnoxious sounding but I feel like I should be honest about my Stepford Wife side (which is a good thing and in my head I think Donna Haraway would approve of all of my abilities and consider me a cyborg feminist).
Either way, I made something that I never thought I would ever in a million years, even if you payed me, make. An American Flag tank top. I know the idea of an American Flag tank sounds beyond icky and I am sure you are thinking of all those blogs with double finger cross rings but mine was inspired by Balmain.
I picked up an inexpensive white tank top from H&M and using inkjet printer transfer sheets I printed out a page of stars, a page of stripes, and a page of clouds. I ironed them to the shirt and after it cooled I peeled off the sheets. I wanted the transfer to be a little rugged (not in the Balmain way) so I was not too careful about if the transfer cracked or anything. To be completely honest it started out as a joke but I ended up liking it. I printed clouds on the back, which was somewhat inspired by We Are Handsome.
