I have never had much interest in American painting before the abstract expressionists. It always seemed like it was playing catch up until in that moment something clicked. That being said, I can remember a train ride I took out of the city after my first extended stretch of living there. One of the first things I said after I got off the train is that I had grown a new appreciation for Hudson River School. I had it in mind this weekend while I was taking some photos from inside the car of a train on the Adirondak line. Luckily for me, on the way there everything was gloomy and overcast, and on the return trip I got the nice contrast from a clear sky.
