A couple days ago, I went out to the Norton Simon in part to see the Vermeer that they had on display. Vermeer has been a favorite of mine for quite some time, but at this point I'm quite familiar with the Norton Simon's permanent collection. I was enthralled to learn upon my arrival that they had a temporary show up focused around the shift of art away from the New York abstract expressionist school in the 1969s. I've found that seeing exhibits of this type of work can be deeply calming for me. Seeing the often gargantuan, monolithic works all arranged into a space can be almost meditative, and always leaves me ready to tackle my visual work anew. On display were many artists I knew, and a few I didn't. This is some work from my favorite artists on display.
