This afternoon Jordan and I went to see the Hervé Léger by Max Azria Spring 2012 show. The show was started with Salamander, a dark hypnotic and ethereal track from Zomby's new LP Dedication, which mirrored the mood of the collection. Hervé Léger's signature body-con bandage style dresses, which are known for their femininity and elegance, were taken to a new level this season: a new level of sexy. Tall beautiful models drifting whimsically in well stitched dresses, most baring cut outs, garments made out of straps of leather, fringe, and to finish it details of silver and gold. The collection also had other pieces including a beautiful little jacket and a cut out bathing suit.
What stuck with me most were the garments made out of straps of leather. They remind me of a poster designed by Dutch Graphic designer Wim Crouwel for an exhibition featuring the work of French painter, sculptor, and filmmaker Fernand Léger. Crouwel designed the word Leger on the poster to be reminiscent of the artist's work.
Thank you to Michael and Cliff for inviting us! We love you both!
