Dia Beacon would definitely make it into the top 5 museum I've ever visited. I've been twice now and both times were about as close as you can come to a magical experience. The museum inhabits a space that was once a Nabisco box printing facility that was altered by Robert Irwin and OpenOffice. The large open spaces are necessary to house the mammoth installations, sculptures, paintings and photographs that fill them. Artists featured include Andy Warhol, Robert Irwin, Dan Flavin, Richard Serra and many others.
When I was looking through those prints recently, I found a number of pictures from the museum. I took them two years ago on my birthday when I visited Dia with my Mariel and my mother. I really love some of the photographs that I took that day, and I can't wait to go back.
