Sometimes I find myself seeking to access that whimsical dreamstate when I'm awake. The way I see it, everyone's life needs more absurdity. Surrealism and Dadaism have long been two of my favorite movements in art. They perfectly combine a sharp analytical deconstruction with a warm sense of humor. It is important that we attempt to get out of our day to day way of viewing things and attmept to see what could be rather than what is. An important part of learning to see as an artist is making that switch. Understanding the rules that form the way that one uderstands one's surroundings is the first step towards moving beyond those constraints. I'm always so delighted when I see someone's work who makes me see things differently like this. This morning I saw some shots from Mario Leko and it allowed me to find that state of... weirdness. See more photos on his photostream.
