Even though on twitter I declared that: 'After realizing that Jared Leto is now 40, I am over Jordan Catalano and am now into (Giovanni) Canaletto (who is dead, but whatever)', I am secretly not over the ultra 90s style from My So-Called Life. In fact, this show helps to explain me being into these boots from Zadig and Voltaire.
For those who have better things to do than watch television shows from the early 90s (that were cancelled after one or two seasons) on Netflix, MSCL is a show that starred an underage Claire Danes as a 'regular' teenager named Angela Chase who has a 'regular' family but for some reason has authentic regular emotions and experiences that we all relate to, including the interactions she has with her love interest Jordan Catalano (played by Jared Leto who is nine years older than Claire Danes in real life).
Something to note, other than all of the outfits, is that the show, which for all but two episodes is narrated by Angela and has some of the funniest/cliche (secretly totally relatable) narration and dialogue of all time.
And back to Jordan Catalano, what is important about Jordan Catalano is that even though he is kind of... not 'dumb' (he isn't eloquent, he cannot read, and he lets Angela do his work for him), I guess he just is not the brightest... he is cool, full of emotion, and to some people he is extremely attractive. Also, he wears a choker necklace, a coat with fur lining, has long hair, plays in a band, and is kind of a rebel without a cause (and because he is a rebel without a cause in the 90s his rebellion kind of seems twice as pointless).
Although most of the characters on this show, with the exception of 'Tino', deserve to be discussed, I am going to leave you with just Angela and Jordan Catalano. And on a final note, doesn't the kid standing next to Jordan Catalano in the picture below look a lot like Leo Johnson from Twin Peaks?
