You come to the web, you come a tabula rossa, a blank slate. From your anonymous beginnings you must build a personality, chosing the elements that you wish to wish to expose to the world. You can be whoever you want really, present any face you wish. This is one of the reasons that as a designer I believe that finding the right typeface fo you, whether you're working digitally or in print, is extremely important. Like every element that you chose to expose to the public, the typeface that you select has an effect on the way that people precieve your content.
Lately I've been really liking the comfortable, casual feel of the work of Dutch designers Novo Typo, particularly their work in an area that I would define as risky at best, that is,display typefaces. Many of the efforts that I see in this category seem cheap and cheesy, but somehow their efforts simply ooze playfulness without childishness. The image in this post is a comination of four of their type specimens. See more work at Novo Typo.
