Photo Booth

Being a PC user, it took me quite some time to get used to the new use of the word photo booth that Apple brought about. I would be utterly perplexed when friends would tell me about taking photo pictures in their apartments. Although I've adjusted now, images like those above will always be what I will associate with the term. For me, photo booth images have a kind of magical quality. They signify the recording of an important historical event (most likely a birthday related trip to the now closed Ed Debevics in Beverly Hills). There is something about their sequential nature and the timing that doesn't allow for polished posing that always seems to bring out the individual/s being photographed. I've read before that Andy Warhol would use photo booth images sometimes as references for his monumentally famous portraits. Perhaps he would agree with my sentiment that they force a subject to stop posing and create a more "true" image. Perhaps I'm being a bit presumptuous... These were taken during my most recent trip to Burlington with Mariel.
