Me x Kate Moss for Supreme: A Note on Tattoos

Mariel Bennett and Jordan Romanoff @ Dress Me
Photograph: Marielle Sales

Photographer Marielle Sales took this photo of me during a recent shoot we did together. I did not actually realize when I picked up the piece of torn off poster from the ground to show it to Marielle and Jordan that it looked like I was the one holding a cigarette for a Supreme ad. It wasn't until she told me not to move that it all became clear.

After seeing the photograph I actually have a new perspective on getting a tattoo (this is only in relation to myself, I think tattoos look extremely cool and approrpriate on everyone else), which is something I have always been curious about. I am not sure if this is correct logic but I have come to realize that if I do not like the way that they look on me when my head is on Kate's body then the likelihood of me liking them on my own body is not very high. Does this mean that I am going to stop putting on temporary tattoos? Not a chance.

Kate Moss/John Galliano for Supreme

I know I shouldn't be so anti-Supreme, but I am. I do not usually down talk designers or brands but Supreme bores me and I think it makes the world a little less appealing. This isn't to say I judge anyone who wears it, because honestly I don't, but I would never put one of their garments on unless it was by force. When I saw the image of one of my all time favorite models Kate Moss posing in a Supreme t-shirt and a leopard print jacket (which is clearly hers... right?) wheatpasted around Soho I thought 'Damn she looks amazing, but she wouldn't stoop as low as Supreme right? This obviously is a joke with some subtly preachy message'. Jordan looked it up and Kate really did model for Supreme. And just when I thought she could do anything, I came to the realization that she failed at making the brand even the slightest bit more appealing. So I guess not even Kate could help bad design to sell. Either way, it seems that no one else in Soho likes the fact that Kate modeled for Supreme either. It seems like every poster has been mangled or abused. Here is one example, where if you cover up her eyes she seriously looks like John Galliano in my opinion. On Jordan's photography blog he offers another example which brings up a more sensitive subject that I figured we were all beyond at this point. How does it make YOU feel?
