Reduce

There has been a quote floating around in my head recently that I can't quite track down who said it or what exactly it was. The idea behind it was that all of nature can be broken down into three basic shapes: the circle, triangle, and rectangle. I had this in mind when I decided to do a series of reduction sketches of images I've taken for my photoblog Mindless Cabonation. These are the results. They were just some quick colored pencil works, but I plan on doing something similar and more finished in paint in the future. I know my information is vague, but if anyone can help me track down the originator of the quote it would be much appreciated.
