People of IFBCon

We didn't get many individual pictures of panelists like we did last year at IFBCon, but We did manage to get two photos with two of the distinguished bloggers though, the first being Bryanboy, the second Jennine Tamm, creator of IFBCon and owner of The Coveted. As a side note, two weeks ago I was looking through Urban Outfitters and I excitedly found Bryanboy's flower printed jeans, a cheaper alternative to the sought after Citizens of Humanity pair, but they didn't have any in my size. I blame this on him.

Another highlight of IFBCon for me was getting a chance to talk to Gustaf Kellner of Blogg.se, former Skype and Joost executive. Blogg.se is the biggest Swedish blogging platform, so obviously this was very exciting for me.

What are Bloggers?

As mentioned before, here are some more pictures that show what IFBCon at Milk Studios looked like this year. Although all of the sponsored booths were amusing, nothing was as thought provoking as getting exisistential and asking ourselves, "what are bloggers?" (see the last photo)

Well Heeled

At IFBcon there was a lovely assortment of all kinds of shoes one could dream of. Prints, patterns, textures, heels of every height, gentleman's slippers, flats, oxfords, sneakers, boots... etc. There was definitely a shoe for everyone. Since I'm all for making sure everyone feels included, I had to take the opportunity to give all of you a little sampling of what was on offer at the event.

While we are on the topic of prints and patterns I thought now would be an appropriate time for a word of minimalist style advice. Do not mix too many patterns unless you are a pro (or British, who for some reason are the mix masters of fashion AND music). Also, you do not have to wear every trend at once, it looks a little ridiculous. And speaking of trends, they go beyond patterns, colors and fabrics, pay attention to silhouettes as well. A classic silhouette or minimal look is always a safe bet, even in the least popular shades (let Tony Wang be an example of this sort of chic simplicity).

#JBrandIFB at #IFBcon

At the J Brand booth (#JBrandIFB) at #IFBcon I got the chance to style an outfit using pieces from their new ready-to-wear collection. It was my first time seeing it in person and of course I was impressed. J Brand is on to something here! According to J Brand's facebook page I am "wearing the Faithfull Leather Jacket, Birkin Tank, and Chrissie Slim Trouser."

Deconstructing Tony Wang (#IFBcon Pt. 1)

Even though style icon of mine Tony Wang wasn't a panelist this year at IFBcon I still got the chance to talk to him, meet his beautiful and cool friend Jaclyn Siu, and get some seriously style inspiration from their jackets (they both had amazing jackets, unfortunately I do not have a picture of her or her jacket!). If you do not already follow them/their blogs then I recommend that you do, they both know what's up!

Either way, let's take a moment to deconstruct Tony Wang's outfit:

Quilted leather jacket/vest combination = amazing

Wang traded in his avant gard hand gear that he wore at last year's IFBcon for a much more refined but equally as coveted quilted Chanel iPad case. Also, note the matching zipper and buckle detailing on his leather jacket and how it matches the silver of the Chanel logo. That is total design (total styling)!

Finally, Wang's shoes from Wang (Alexander, not Vera of course), which I am still not over yet, complemented the outfit perfectly! Minimalist outfits with amazing details are the definition of style in my opinion!

#IFBCON

Sorry for the lack of posts today. We've been busy getting ready to go to #IFBCon tomorrow and we're so excited. Expect a full report soon and some live tweeting tomorrow.

IFBcon Pt. II of II

Some of the lovely people I met at IFBcon:

I was beyond excited to talk to Lauren and Erica from Honestly...WTF?!  in person. Even though I am sure they were both thinking 'Oh god, you're that person who keeps tweeting to us about friendship bracelets...', they were so sweet and even talked to me about friendship bracelets in person. 

This picture does not do their outfits justice, sorry for that! Either way, I think their outfits totally capture the mood of their blog. They have that rare polite and polished- goes to farmers markets, has a green thumb, owns really nice leather bags, DIY look that places like Anthropolgie try to sell as a lifestyle. I would like to also point out that Erica is sporting some of the DIYs from their site. I love the metal on the shirt collar and obviously her 'arm party' (see next pic) of DIY bracelets. On a final note, ever since seeing them I have been thinking about wearing breton shirts and how I still would not mind having a pair of Acne ankle boots!

I was able to meet Leandra from The Man Repeller , the one who not only coined the term 'arm party' but had a pretty lovely arm party going on herself and complimented Erica's (from Honestly...WTF?!) arm party during their panel. I have to say she should get an award for creating effortlessly chic outfits. In addition to that I love that jacket and her shoes! 

Amiee Song from Song of Style is a new favorite of mine. Her outfit seriously blew my mind. I mean that is style! Her shoes, pants, arm parties, and necklace are all so amazing! She seriously knows how to put it together!

Natalie from Natalie Off Duty also a pro at that effortlessly chic look. So adorable and kind! She is such a model too, so tall and elegant!

Mr. Micky of PaperMag was extremely funny, I think all who were there would agree. His outfit reminds me of Truman Capote, I am not sure why exactly, but he has that 'I've been on vacation and was inspired by this beautiful necklace I saw there so I brought one back' thing about him. Also, even though his bag would be feminine on anyone else, he somehow makes it look like just an added touch of glam.

Ann Colville Somma of Holier than Now had the most lovely vintage dress on. I mean can you believe how marvelous she looks? Unreal! I do not know where she found that dress but it is something worth talking about. If that is not style than I am not sure what is...

IFBcon Pt. I of II

As I mentioned in my previous post, Jordan and I attended the IFBcon at Milk Studios. I would be lying if I said that IFB put on anything less than a well coordinated and fantastic show. Each impressive panel was different than the other, and each panelist was experienced in their unique field; had useful and relevant knowledge to share; and had varied opinions on the topics. Let's not forget all of the dope swag that we were given: on the go flat irons from Amika; makeup palets from Urban Decay; KMS California (a personal favorite of mine) products AND hair styling; hair bows from gla.mar.ous; earrings from BaubleBar; Butter nail polish; Manicures and treats from Magnum ice cream; and roulette from Aldo. In all seriousness I heart IFB! If you get the chance to go an IFBcon, make like a Nike ad and just do it!

Pretty Handy

Yesterday, Jordan and I went to the IFBConference at Milk Studios, an amazing experience that I only have kind things to say about. Seeing that this was a conference about blogging/social media (aka cyborg central) we took tons of photos, which should be up within the next couple of days; however, I would like to take this time to focus on the handware of one of my new style icons (I think he may be sporting a pair of Jil Sander shoes, correct me if I am wrong, seriously)! Can you guess who it is?

Those are the hands of the extremely stylish and eloquent Tony Wang! Duh!

Pre IFBcon post

Tomorrow Jordan and I will be attending the IFBcon at Milk Studios. We have been so busy with work that I have not had much time to prepare myself! When we are not doing schoolwork we are working on the magazine which in a way is the only work that we actually enjoy doing (with the exception of some other things of course!). Over the weekend we storyboarded and shot two looks. I guess I could have prepared myself in the downtime after hair and makeup, but even then we were doing schoolwork or running errands. #parsonsproblems. 

Now that we are on the topic of hash tags, while we are at IFBcon we will both be tweeting about what is going on! I am pretty excited to see what Jordan's take on the event will be like. Luckily for us we will be able to read what he thinks about everything in #realtime. Follow his account: @JRHalfMoons. I will be tweeting from the DMM twitter @dressmemag.
