How many questions can you make by combining the names Hedi Slimane, Raf Simons, Stefano Pilati, Christopher Kane, YSL and Dior?

This week has already gotten off to an intense start, both in the fashion world and the New York world (temporarily not the fashion world). With Milan fashion week ending, Jil Sander having officially returned to Jil Sander, and Stefano Pilati officially gone from Yves Saint Laurent, as well as so many unanswered questions like: Will Hedi Slimane REALLY take over YSL? and if not, Why would someone be cruel enough to start that rumor (#HediForever)? What is going to happen to Raf Simons? Is Raf Simons going to take over YSL/Dior? What is going to happen to Stefano Pilati? Who is going to take over Dior? And what is the deal with the Christopher Kane rumors? Is he next to take on Dior? You can create a lot of questions by combing the names Hedi Slimane, Raf Simons, Stefano Pilati, Christopher Kane, YSL and Dior (extremely similar to the 'How many different combinations can you make with these three different colored shirts and these three different colored shorts' question from when you were younger but with far more importance). With all of this design talent seemingly running free, you cannot help but to wonder 'what is really going on?' Who ever thought that the fashion industry would be so much like Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks (you know, 'She's filled with secrets'), and be so full of rumors? I mean we all know it is, but with this much #major (decidedly the new buzzword) news at one time it is starting to feel a little too prepared. Now, while I am certain that I am looking too deeply into things, I do not think I am alone and I think who ever has the answers needs to come clean quickly before I turn into the main character from A Beautiful Life (the fashion version) and start posting clippings from WWD around my apartment and connecting them with David Yurman bracelets and necklaces.
As I write this I am listening to Carole King's 'So Far Away' and I am honestly asking myself 'Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore?' Obviously not. Everyone is heading to Paris for Paris Fashion Week. Milan fashion week was as witch house as I expected it to be, further instilling my belief that Salem has the ability to influence culture on a global scale. After all, the lead singer was in the first issue of Style.com's printed magazine. At Versace there were literally garments drenched in crosses. Call it 'goth' all you want, at the end of the day we both know Donatella is listening to Ritualz while making collages of pixelated pictures of LiLo. Personally, I am extremely excited to see what this season's #pfw collections will have to offer. Especially Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs has been so total with the past two fashion week collections it would be a let down if this Fall 2012 show didn't live up.
Either way, with all of this going on, yesterday Jordan and I decided to escape it all with a walk around the village. We went back to the building from this post as well as this post. I decided to wear my vintage leather jacket that I rediscovered recently in my closet with a pair of Gap jeans and a waffle knit from BCBG. It was nice to be out in the sun even though it is still quite cold out. Hopefully everyone had a lovely weekend/start of the week. Miss you, love you, mean it later!

BCBG Max Azria Fall 2012 Presentation

Are you ready for all of this BCBG MAXAZRIA that we are about to throw your way? Here are the pictures that Jordan took while we were at the show. We made triptychs as a way of showing the motion of the garments in a static way (personally I am a little too A.D.D. for movies sometimes and prefer to see stills from shows). I love all of the sheer/fur/leather seen in this collection, it offers a sort of Great Gatsby vibe in that extremely chic and sophisticated way rather than in that resort collection sort of way. Click below to see more! Miss you, love you, mean it later!

SS12 Trend: Pucci Goes Totally Witch House

Mariel Bennett, Jordan Romanoff, @ Dress Me Mag

Now I know that most fashion publications are not going to list 'Witch House' as one of the trends from the Spring/Summer 2012 collections, but I think that is only because they do not know what Witch House is. It is a truly a shame too, they could have quite a bit of fun with it! Either way Lace, sheer, whatever this (Witch House) aesthetic is being called, Peter Dundas knew what he was doing with Pucci this season. That being said, I think it is fair to say that someone may be watching a bit too much Twin Peaks (whether that ‘someone’ is Dundas or myself, I am not really sure, it could be both!).

Looking at the images from the Pucci show reminded me of a fading Americana idea of the ‘cool girls’. The kind you would see in a 1950s timepiece, where cheerleading is still cool and where girls wear bobby socks because that is the only option. To illustrate this idea for you I made you the witch house version of these ‘cool girls’. Daphne is in the middle because she is the coolest of the cool girls AND she is in all white, which means she is innocent on the outside but totally horrible on the inside. I think that is how that whole good girl/bad girl thing works out, right?

Pucci was not the only Witch House looking collection this season either, have you been to style.com? I feel like I am at a Salem show, except everyone is fashionable, no one is on ketamine, and I am not listening to Salem (with the exception of a few songs), which is my sort of Witch House.

Music and fashion go hand in hand so here is a song by Salem that I DO like for you! I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday! Later!

Alberta Ferretti is so Witch House

When did Alberta Ferretti become so witch house? I am not going to say that I didn't doctor this image to enhance the truly witch house quality of this look buy I am also not going to say that it was my photoshopping that makes this look seriously witch house. While you are contemplating the witch housey elements, or how many times I write the words witch house in this post, here is a witch house playlist Jordan put together of witch house songs that we like. And while we are on the topic of witch house, Urban Outfitters sells crucifixes now. In more than one style. Personally I am not into the whole wearing crosses thing, but I think it is cool if you are, in fact I have a little DIY project that can bring your cross necklace to a whole new level of witch house. All you have to do is take your cross necklace off of the chain/cord/etc. and with a hot glue gun, glue the eyelet of a hook-and-eye closure to the bottom of the cross so that there is now a loop coming from the bottom. Wait until the glue is completely dry and re-string the cross from the new loop. Omg you will be so witch house!
