Waffle Knits

Mariel Bennett and Jordan Romanoff @ Dress Me Mag
Recently, I have been looking for thermals everywhere, and when I say everywhere I mean I have spent the past couple of days looking for thermals. Not just any normal thermal but the perfect type of thermal, that is thermals that are made out of a soft material, have the right cut and are the right size waffle knit. Either someone bought all of them them already or no place (that I have been to yet at least) knows how/what or wants to make waffle knits. I did get a perfect one from Free People that I showed previously as well as the crop top one from Urban Outfitters. I love them both, they are so comfortable and keep me warm. Now to find a well cut waffle knit maxi dress, anyone know of any?

I am not sure if waffle knit tops are suddenly a rare thing or if I have just been looking in the wrong places but I am starting to think that I am the only person who think that they are perfect for Fall. I ordered this Free People one off of Karmaloop. It is just the kind I have been looking for! Do you guys know of any good shops for waffle knits, online or not?

Missoni for Target: the online shopping expierience

Missoni for Target Dress and leggings

Like many people, I too experienced the greatest internet crash of 2011 (kidding), a crisis that left the nation in a state of confusion. A state of frustration, where the only thing to do was to wait it out, wait for some answers, press refresh, and consistently check Twitter. Everyone was in a state of anger, not me though, not this girl.

There was no true reason for me to get mad. That morning I accidentally woke up too early, there was no plan to even logon, but in my sleep deprived state I somehow remembered that today was the day. Then without realizing it I found myself in the middle of a nightmare even though I had just gotten up. After more time than I should have allowed, I closed the window. Target's website had crashed just as I was about to checkout. Even though I had everything that I wanted in my cart and even though I knew that there would be nothing left in my size, if there was anything left at all when I logged back on later that day, I knew it was pointless to get mad.

When I logged back on in the evening it was only to check to see if the site was working, I had no intention of buying anything. The site was working, and just as I predicted, there was nothing left in my size. Then I had a realization: I was forgetting the children's section of Missoni for Target. I ended up getting everything I had wanted, including these leggings that I had not even planned on getting originally.

When I got the package I realized that the leggings match the dress and together they create a perfect traveling outfit. So next time you see me at the train station or at the airport, unless I have gotten that pair of cashmere pants from net-a-porter, there is a pretty good chance I will be wearing this! Later!

It's a Cheap Monday (Friday)

I kind of have a thing for Cheap Monday, not their jeans, but for everything else. I am not exactly sure how into this brand people are, seeing as you can basically only buy it in store at Urban Outfitters in the US, but I think their collections are cohesive, simplistic and generally cool. Although I generally buy things from Cheap Monday online, I first bought it when I was browsing the UO sale section and came across one of their basic t-shirts in white, in my size, for only ten dollars. What a find! It was soft and it kind of reminded me of the t-shirts from Acne that I love most. I bought the shirt and and now I am completely into the brand, which is why I found myself wearing everything Cheap Monday with the exception of my shoes the other day.
The shoes that I am wearing I bought last weekend for five dollars in Soho. It is strange because I had been looking at a similar pair of Jeffrey Campbell ones a day or two before, which look a lot like these, but no place had them in my size. Also, I did not feel like spending the already low price (when I say low I mean it in comparison to the cost of the high heels that I really want but do not even bother to look at because buying heels like that should be a once in a while sort of purchase in my opinion, unless shoes are your thing of course) of only hundred and something dollars for them. When I found these I was relieved that I would not have to think about the pair of JC ones I do not have and thrilled that I found them. Oh and for those who did not see my previous post, the source of inspiration for the rose in these pictures are the images from my Rosebud Lips post. Later!

Do not even be the slightest bit surprised if you see me and I am wearing something like this. Everything is from Cheap Monday except for the 'Mariel' wedges which are from Jeffrey Campbell.

Ark & co. Lace Dress

For Jordan's birthday dinner I wore a white lace dress with a scoop back from Ark & co. When I was packing to head estate side I forgot to pack a dress for this occasion. It was not until I was planning my outfits for LA (something I always plan to do but never follow through with; however, this time I did. I even typed the list of outfits out on my computer like I do when I style looks for shoots. Doing this made me feel beyond organized, to the point where I thought that I would not end up shopping. I spent the afternoon of my first full day in LA shopping. Oops!) that I realized this and in a state of panic I began to search the local shops but I could not find anything. I decided to be a little risky and look for something online even though I only had a week and a half or two before my trip. I found two dress online that I loved and got them in time, this dress of course being one of them!

LF LF LF LF LF

A couple of days into my trip the contents of my wardrobe soon became more things from LF than the clothes that I brought, which is the explanation for the LF shorts and top that I wore in this outfit. Like I mentioned in my post White Knit Shorts, I love LF knit shorts, so much that I ended up picking up a couple of pairs in different colors. I found buying a knit top in Los Angeles to be a little more difficult but I ended up happily buying this soft and warm white one. The back is longer than the front, which is a perfectly odd little detail that works well for layering and adds that bit of character that can make you love an outfit. When it got darker out I added my scarf thing from LF and swapped the Litas for my ankle boots.

Working and Shopping

The DMM is hard at work and we want to apologize for any delay in returning emails or messages! While we are doing that I thought I would post some estate side pictures. The first is of some flowers outside the front door of my house. The second is of my dog. The third is of me lying in a hammock in a tree in my yard. The last three are of some things that I have gotten since I have been here and that you have seen in recent posts. Later!

Cheap Monday DIY Shorts

The other night we took a drive to some of the most beautiful places you could ever imagine. I sometimes think I live in one of the strangest most vibrant parts of the country, where it is so beautiful and untouched that you can go crazy from it. If I could take a photograph that could show you how wonderful and beautiful this place truly is I would, but until then I will just have to tell you about it. We did get pictures of my outfit. A t-shirt from Blood is the new Black, a pair of denim shorts that I made out of this silver pair of jeans from Cheap Monday and my Jeffrey Campbell Litas. Later!

Cloak and Dagger Dess Jeffrey Campbell Shoes

The other day we took my dog to the lake. It was so hot out that I threw on this delicate Cloak and Dagger dress that Jordan picked out last summer along with a pair of Jeffrey Campbell shoes and a straw hat (which I know you will hate Jordan, but I forgot my sunhat in the city). Later!

Helmut Lang Looped V Neck Sweater BB Dakota Shorts

Jordan and I took a walk through Washington Square Park (now referred to as Rat Park) the other night right before it started to pour. For some reason everyone but us knew that it was about to rain because everyone was dashing for some sort of shelter and I was running into the center. We managed to avoid getting too wet and ended up running and hiding under the entrance to an apartment building on 5th avenue where we took a few pictures. We stopped along the way to take a couple of pictures/make a new friend in a parking garage on 8th street. Now to finish packing... Later!

William Rast Shorts T by Alexander Wang Top summer look day to night

My outfit from last night (which I actually spent most of studying) consisted of a soft white top from T by Alexander Wang and denim shorts from William Rast. In my mind the everyday white t-shirt and denim shorts combination is one of those classic summer styles that can be worn day or night depending on what you pair it with. I took advantage of this versatility and added a polite, soft, slouchy, black leather bag, and to give a more put together feel I balanced the laid back casualness with some overtly structural elements: these cuffs from H&M that I picked up ages ago and the Lita platforms.

Also I am currently waiting for my best friend to get into the city! She lives in Dallas and I have not seen her ages! Wahoo! Okay, back to studying! Later!

Shoes Post Pt. 1: Jeffrey Campbell, Charlotte Olympia, Chloé, Diane von Furstenberg, Yves Saint Laurent, Theodora and Callum,

Jeffrey Campbell is total blogger love for a few reasons: JC shoes are comfortable, inexpensive, and if you are in love with an 'it' shoe that is out of your price range chances are JC has a shoe that is similar. I am not sure if I can think of a shoe company that does cheap chic this well.
