New In: Acne Dress

My new dress from Acne made it all the way from Sweden safely! So exciting. It isn't a waffle knit but I am going to see which waffle knit(s) looks best with it. While I am doing that I am going to pretend that there is snow in NYC like there is in Sweden. What is the point of the cold weather without the snow? Hugs!

Acne Pre-Fall 2012 Lookbook

Looking through Acne's Pre-Fall 2012 lookbook I definitely see pieces that I like. I do not completely love the styling, it is a little too 90s (see the rest of the lookbook, I didn't post those looks) in the wrong way or something. I can see the pieces working in different contexts extremely well. I love so many of the pieces, damn! I could be homeless and wear Acne if I REALLY wanted to, but that seems extremely unappealing. Oh well, maybe Acne is off limits for now but a girl can dream though, right? Hugs!

Cheap Monday Jacket

Although we are back in the city, I thought I would do an outfit post from LA. It makes complete sense to me to post this outfit now as it proves how versatile this jacket from Cheap Monday really is! I was probably the only one in a down jacket in Santa Monica that day but that is only because beaches are quite cold and windy in the winter time, even in California. The difference between me wearing a coat in Santa Monica and me wearing a coat here is that in Santa Monica I was fine with just a white t-shirt from Acne on underneath, here it is all about sweaters and layering. It is so bitter sweet! The first two photos are also a little preview of our upcoming issue, which will feature a photo essay from our trip to the pier. Alright, time to get everything sorted! Hugs!

Bill Cosby Inspired Post-Flu Outfit

Mariel Bennett and Jordan Romanoff @ Dress Me Mag

This is my first true post-flu outfit picture post. For my first day back working I chose to wear one of my go to, fail safe looks. It is one of those outfits that prevents people from completely noticing that you are recovering from the plague due to its understated mixture of bold and seasonal pieces. So, when your body is not fully recovered and you are in need of something cozy and chic, strangely enough a Bill Cosby sweater is always a safe bet. To complete the look pair your Cosby sweater with a pair of comfortable, low key of jeans from a current of the moment brand, add a pair of almost tough boots and finish with a quiet but sturdy bag. I swear it works! Back to work for me, later!

It's a Cheap Monday (Friday)

I kind of have a thing for Cheap Monday, not their jeans, but for everything else. I am not exactly sure how into this brand people are, seeing as you can basically only buy it in store at Urban Outfitters in the US, but I think their collections are cohesive, simplistic and generally cool. Although I generally buy things from Cheap Monday online, I first bought it when I was browsing the UO sale section and came across one of their basic t-shirts in white, in my size, for only ten dollars. What a find! It was soft and it kind of reminded me of the t-shirts from Acne that I love most. I bought the shirt and and now I am completely into the brand, which is why I found myself wearing everything Cheap Monday with the exception of my shoes the other day.
The shoes that I am wearing I bought last weekend for five dollars in Soho. It is strange because I had been looking at a similar pair of Jeffrey Campbell ones a day or two before, which look a lot like these, but no place had them in my size. Also, I did not feel like spending the already low price (when I say low I mean it in comparison to the cost of the high heels that I really want but do not even bother to look at because buying heels like that should be a once in a while sort of purchase in my opinion, unless shoes are your thing of course) of only hundred and something dollars for them. When I found these I was relieved that I would not have to think about the pair of JC ones I do not have and thrilled that I found them. Oh and for those who did not see my previous post, the source of inspiration for the rose in these pictures are the images from my Rosebud Lips post. Later!

Inspiration: Calm, Cool, Grey

Here are some images that sum up some of the things that I am currently inspired by: Acne as a brand, which is so total. Organized, clean, amazing. Of course Twin Peaks, like everyone else in this world, I have been obsessed and continually inspired by it from the start when Jordan and I first watched it. As well as fall and snow. All of those things play into each other in my head.

Sunday Style

Here is my outfit from Sunday when Jordan and I went to some museums. I got the chance to wear my new bag from Cheap Monday for the first time. It holds everything and is comfortable too. If you are looking for the perfect bargin bag that is a tote/shopper then I would look no further. You can get it here. On a different note, it is hot again, which prevents my sweater wearing agenda from going as planned. I figure it is around the time that I should be wearing knits and even possibly a leather jacket. I am starting to think that I pulled out my pairs of Wolford leggings a bit too soon!

If you can remember my post 'Clothing, Shoes, Jewelry' I mentioned how packing for the East side allows me to see what my favorite items of clothing/shoes/accessories are. With the exception of my current favorite accessories other than the clutch and the DMM bags (or Dress Me Bags if you are into bad word play), here are some of my favorite items in my wardrobe right now. Now that we are currently in a heat wave the sweaters are not getting as much attention as the other garments which are light and soft.

Acne Dress and Snake Skin

I finally found a pair of lightweight, almost transparent, snakeskin textured leggings at Miss Hoe while wandering around with Jordan the other day in Nolita. Unless I am relaxing/cold/making a short trip I am not really into wearing leggings, especially the faux leather kind; however, the idea of snakeskin textured leggings excites me. I paired them with the Bonny shirt turned dress from Acne.

Acne T-Shirt Frye Ankle Boots Bag from Accessorize

Today I had a meeting with the lovely people from Accessorize, they were nice enough to gift me this bag that I had tweeted about! Thank you to everyone from Accessorize, especially M!
Later in the day I went back to their store with Jordan and picked up another ring and some bangles. The store is at the corner of my street, this might become a problem...

Acne Bonny Dress in black

Despite the fact that it was extremely hot and muggy out I decided to wear this shirt turned dress from Acne. The fabric is so light that I was not bothered by the heat. It is the type of garment I love because it can be layered in the fall and winter or worn as is during the hot summer months. It is the perfect year round dress.

07122011

The DMM team has been on a little vacation after we put out the last issue of the magazine. Both of our parents came up (with the exception of my mum who was visiting my grandparents), which was fun for so many reasons. Our parents even met for the first time (Mum we were all sad you were not there)!
My Father and I wandered all over Manhattan one day, stopping in Soho, wandering my neighborhood, dashing up town for a trip to Barneys for drinks, people watching wherever we stopped, it was such a good time! I am happy to say that my Dad even took a liking to Acne and when we visited the store in Soho. He picked up a this beyond cool, completely unique tie for some weddings he has to go to. I swear it will be the most stylish tie at those weddings. It totally beats those Hermès ties with the sail boats/horses/animals on them! Hopefully I will be making some outfit posts soon! Later!
