Minimal not Understated

I threw this outfit together last minute before I had to run out the door to class, I feel like it looks super collegiate in the best of ways. 'The best of ways' meaning that it involves a waffle knit, sticks to a modernist color palette, feels very minimal even though there are a lot of textures and different silhouettes, also it was my first chance to wear this shirt from Cheap Monday. I guess wearing any sort of button up blouse to school makes me feel a little collegiate. Also, I have realized that when wearing minimal looks I like to wear simple silver, white gold, or leather jewelry without any nail polish. That way I do not feel like my jewelry and nails are overwhelming each other.

Waffle Knit & Snakeskin

With Each season's collections, numerous trends start to formulate as fashion week makes it way through each city. The trends you like you pay attention to and as fashion week ends you begin to see these trends making their way into the stores. There is a weird feeling of excitment when you realize that H&M has a 30 dollar garment inspired by a favorite trend and you grab it because it looks like that piece from Prada that you want in the moment but would never buy because it is a 'trend piece'. Then three months later it seems like everyone is wearing an odd version of a Prada inspired snakeskin or a faux fur piece and that trend loses all meaning.
I am not against wearing trends and I think all people should have access to them, it is hard to avoid them if you like fashion but I do think wearing trends just because they are trends looks a little silly. So when I picked up this pair of snakeskin denim from Gap I was a little surprised. Snakeskin isn't exactly my thing but the fact that the snakeskin print is just a few shades darker than the fabric makes me feel like it doesn't look so reptilian. Actually, I am happy I got them though, I like them quite a bit, especially paired with a waffle knit! I do not expect myself to be wearing any other snakeskin pieces though. Happy Holidays! Hugs!

Gap Top Current/Elliott Bottoms Gucci Bag

At home it is so freezing that I am more into sweaters than usual. I do not even need a sweater wearing schedule, it is just sweaters all the time. The corduroys from Current/Elliot help keep me warm as well. I am not going to lie, the Gucci bag probably keeps me the warmest! The soft leather is such a lovely warm brown color and if I am cold I just look at the tassels and that alone warms me up! Alright, time to finish some last minute holiday shopping baby! Later!

Sasha Pivovarova for Gap Body

Being the Vovarholic that I am, I was more than excited when I found out that Sasha Pivovarova was doing a collaboration with Gap Body. This bra is one of the two things I picked up from the collection. It is so comfortable and soft, I definitely recommend it to anyone! It is so perfect! You can make like a fairy too and buy it here.

The Getty: day two part two

All photos by Jordan

On my second day I went with Jordan and his father to do some camera related errands. I now believe that most of LA is made out of camera related businesses. Jordan got some new lenses for his camera as a birthday gift. Later that day when we went to the Getty he got to test them out. I love the results. It is the same outfit as my last post but with a vintage denim shirt from Gap.

White T-Shirt Grey Jersey T by Alexander Wang Skirt

Jordan and I took a trip to Brooklyn on Monday to go to this Japanese bookstore Zakka. If you live in the city and are into fashion/graphic design (or any sort of design)/Japanese toys, magazines, etc. then I recommend you check it out! After, we decided to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge because I never had before. To prevent myself from getting overheated I wore a t-shirt from Gap and my grey jersey skirt from T by Alexander Wang. Later!

I like my T by Alexander Wang Tee with Gap Jean Shorts

I am happy to say that I got an A on my last two tests! All of my summer time studying paid off! For now at least, my two finals are on Tuesday so I have a lot more studying to do! When I am studying I have to take loads of little breaks or else I cannot remember anything. If I am taking a break I am usually on a walk. It is my favorite thing to do in the summer and Jordan is nice enough to come with me! Later!

I wonder if Flying Lotus liked my outfit

Tonight I was supposed to go with Jordan to see Shlohmo and others but once again we decided that I should stay in and study for a test that I have on Monday. I thought I would take a break and do an outfit post.
On Thursday Jordan and I went to Brooklyn to see Flying Lotus, which was amazing. Thursday afternoon I was a little freaked out because I had no idea what to wear to a show in Brooklyn when there was a chance of rain on a hot day. Finally after a couple of outfits and I decided on a top from Rag & Bone, a pair of black Hudson jeans (I made a last minute decision and changed into cotton shorts when I was getting ready), ankle boots from Steven by Steve Madden, and a jacket from Gap.
I was not able to get a picture of my outfit on Thursday so Jordan took a couple pictures on Friday. the only thing that is different is my jacket. On Thursday I wore a short grey jacket from Gap but the weather on Friday called for something else so I decided to wear a jacket from H&M. While we were wandering around we stopped into this gallery that had this great white room with an almost rainbow colored sculpture type thing, I thought I should have my picture next to it so I could have a Pride picture! Hopefully Jordan and I will make it back to the West Village in time to catch some of the Pride Parade. I have a feeling that this year might be crazier than ever... for one particular, amazing and lovely reason (I am sure we all know what I am talking about!)! My apartment looks right onto Christopher Street! Okay back to studying! Later!
