Stepford X Jason Wu (for Target)

Yesterday Jordan and I took a walk down to SoHo and I got to wear my Jason Wu x Target dress for real for the first time. That's the issue with each issue, if there is something that I really love that we're using for the magazine then I have to wait until it comes out to wear the item (it it worth the wait though, I swear I am not complaining!). Either way, back to the Jason Wu dress, I like the way it looks as a skirt just as much as I do on its own. I think it still looks quite Stepford with a jumper on top, and what better than a waffle knit to pair it with. To go along with the Stepford aesthetic, we stopped in front of this soon to be opening store to take a few pictures in front of what I imagine to be wallpaper made for someone's personal dressing room or something like that. Back to reading the March issues for me. I hope everyone had a lovely and relaxing Sunday! Miss you, love you, mean it later!

Today I Wore

This morning Jordan and I went up to Lincoln Center where we were lucky enough to see the BCBG Max Azria presentation. We will be posting more pictures from inside the show as well as some street style shots soon. For now though, we leave you an outfit post. This is what I wore to the show. I decided to wear a feminine lavender BCBG dress complete with frills and a shear back, a silhouette that I'm not accustomed to wearing. I generally prefer to wear more minimalist clothing, but for this special occasion I figured I'd slip out of my routine. To keep my legs warm I wore a pair of black thigh highs from Agent Provocateur (a gift from Jordan), and grey fur boot covers over my black Opening Ceremony suede lace up ankle boots. To make it the look a little more cohesive feeling, I wore my leather vest from Juicy Couture that I've been into lately. To finish it off, I wore bracelets from David Yurman, John Hardy, and my new buckle bangle from Michael Kors (an early Valentine's day gift from Jordan).

Waffle Knits & Lingonberries

The other night before walking into SoHo, we stopped into Swedish candy store Sockerbit where we took my outfit pic and of course picked up some new Scandinavian imported treats to try. We are not the foodie type of people and we're definitely not the foodie-blog type (we are not that adventurous!), but when it comes to Scandinavian confections, not only have we started seeking them out but you can expect to see one of us taking a picture while the other one of us is writing about it. Why Scandinavian treats? Because they are made with ingredients that we actually know of, the packaging is always well designed (total design every time I swear), and it is always delicious! American chocolate just isn't as good. Also, unlike other foreign sweets, which can seem odd in texture and taste, Scandinavian products have a familiarity to them, making them always palatable. SO, If you are looking for something new to try, the Lingonberry Dark Fairtrade Chocolate bar from Danish Chocolatier Anthon Berg is definitely a new favorite of ours. Made using cocoa beans from Ghana and dried lingonberries, this delicious dark chocolate has a subtle, yet well encompassed fruity flavor to it!

LF Black Knit Shorts H&M White T-Shirt: day to night look

Currently I am obsessed with these black knit shorts that I picked up at LF (LF makes the best knit shorts). I like to pair them with a white t-shirt, it is my everyday uniform at the moment. Conveniently for me, it is a look that I can wear day or night when accessorized properly. Here are my day and night versions of the look. The night version was taken before the heatwave and the day version was taken when the city was at its hottest. One plus about being in a heat wave is that it is perfect weather for taking pictures, it explains why West 4th Street is completely empty. Unfortunately, we only made it a couple of blocks before turning back to the apartment with only two shots to show for it.

LnA bra top bought at LF; American Apparel bra top;

American Apparel clutch (seen in this post).

If you can remember my post 'Clothing, Shoes, Jewelry' I mentioned how packing for the East side allows me to see what my favorite items of clothing/shoes/accessories are. With the exception of my current favorite accessories other than the clutch and the DMM bags (or Dress Me Bags if you are into bad word play), here are some of my favorite items in my wardrobe right now. Now that we are currently in a heat wave the sweaters are not getting as much attention as the other garments which are light and soft.

Juicy Couture Black Leather Vest and Vintage Belt: Easy Rider Meets Cyborg

Yesterday, around midday Jordan and I decided that we would wander over to the High Line later in the afternoon so we could see the second part.

Before we left I changed into a tight black dress from American Apparel (a little too blatant as just a dress, I prefer it as a foundation piece if anything, but it can work from time to time if I pretend I am wearing a dress from Wolford), and I threw on a beaded vintage belt (that my Mum's lovely friend was kind of enough to send me) that I have been wanting to wear since I got it. After slipping on a pair of black Suede ankle boots from Stevens I realized that I was still channeling Easy Rider (if you can remember back to my Easy Rider post) and I decided that my feminine-yet-structured black leather vest from Juicy Couture could only add to the look so I unzipped it off the hanger and let it rest on my shoulders.

When we got to the High Line (which looks a little like a scene from a science fiction novel) I began to feel more like a cyborg than any character from Easy Rider. Instantly I had slipped into my new persona and when we reached the end of the High Line I was ready to shoot my outfit. We found this building that had gold paneling and decided it would make the perfect backdrop.

I thought I would mention that Jordan does not follow me around with a camera, in fact usually I am following him around while he takes pictures of things that are not related to me. Ever since I have met Jordan he has been taking photographs with his 1,000 cameras, it was not until last summer and the start of the magazine (and then the blog) that he actually even started really taking pictures of me. You can see his lovely photography on his somewhat new photo diary: Mindless Carbonation.

Pink dress from Juicy Couture and White J Brand Jeans

Here is my outfit from yesterday. Jordan asked me if I wanted a picture and then snapped it pre-interview. It was kind of an exciting moment for me. Usually I have to get up the courage to ask him to take an outfit pic. It is an everyday sort of thing. I think he expects it... I am beyond thankful.
Either way, I got a nice email from my grandmother today telling me she was proud (an important/proud moment for me). Which reminds me, Mother's Day is on Sunday so do something lovely for your Mum. I am not going to make a collage of beauty products you can get your mum like I have seen a lot of people doing. I do not think my mum would like a bouquet of eye creams, anti-wrinkle creams, perfume, and candles from Diptyque (I think that seems rather mean/why would anyone want someone choosing their beauty products for them?), I think she would prefer a calfskin leopard print iPad case or handbag. I am working on it Mum, I swear!
I promise I will have a more exciting post to show you soon (or at least I plan for it to be).

Inspiration: pinks, blues, palm trees, clouds, L.A.

Inspiration: Black silhouettes of palm trees against highly saturated pinks or pastel clouds.

I get a completely We Are Handsome vibe from these images, they remind me especially of the WAH LA bathing suit that I love. I also cannot help but to think of Juicy Couture (secretly I love their clothes, they are so feminine and their children's clothing fits me perfectly... I won't lie I have a load of their velour tracksuits. Do not judge!).
I do not know why but it all makes me think of leopard print. It also makes me think of white. Here is the result:

Dress: H&M
Shirt: Gap Kids
Tracksuit top: Juicy Couture
