Estate Side Photo Diary

Over the weekend Jordan and I headed up north to estate side. Before we left we decided we would do a shoot so we brought a suitcase with all of the looks, shoes, accessories, cameras, etc. The first night was spent wandering around outside as the sun went down looking for places to shoot. Like most of the time spent outside, this adventure resulted in an outfit shoot. My outfit consisted of a top from Free People, grey shorts, and a pair of a size too big Doc Martins that my Father had put in my room for me. He had texted me to tell me earlier in the week to tell me that he had found them so I was excited to try them on. They are just as big and clunky as I imagined. They are perfect for wandering around outside. The next day we did the shoot. We were lucky enough to be able to shoot with the same model that we shot with last time I went estate side, and the photographer from the previous shoot even shot our last look (you will read about them in the next issue)! Jordan shot the other outfits (and David Biral even took a few shots. We are so lucky!) and everything looks amazing! I am excited to see both shoots in the upcoming issues. A big thanks to everyone who was involved!

100th Post

fashion blog
I am excited to say that it is our 100th post! I have to admit that it came unexpectedly so I do not have anything special to post. Oops!
My outfit post: I find it enjoyable to look at a brand's lookbook after buying an item from one of their collections to see how they styled the garment or what colors they paired it with. Not to copy it but for a point of reference. Although I have seen the T by Alexander Wang lookbook a thousand times, I cannot say I actually have any look memorized. After I had gotten my new skirt I was curious to see how it was styled in the lookbook. Like I said before I never copy a look but after seeing how they styled the skirt I had to try it. Layer on layer on layer on layer (I count the skirt as a layer), literally four layers for Spring! Isn't that marvelous sounding?
Even though I am obsessed with layering (an obsession that started as a necessity form living in the North East) I could not go for all four layers, I do not think I have the attention span for that. Instead I did three. The first is the jersey T by Alexander Wang skirt, then a silk blouse from Equipment, and over that is a light pink knit jumper from Cheap Monday. The shoes are my Jeffrey Campbell 'Mariel' wedges in glitter (worn with black socks).

New Lula

The other day Jordan and I stopped into one of our favorite magazine shops. I was surprised to hear Jordan saying 'New Lula!' because this magazine store is always a little late getting magazines in. I was excited and happy to have gotten one on time. Thank you Jordan for the new Lula!

Kut Out (outfit inspired by Ksubi's film Kolors)

On Sunday Jordan and I went to the Opening Ceremony sample sale. I picked up some white nylon leg wear from the Japanese brand Toga Archives. I am a little obsessed with them (beyond obsessed). They were the perfect touch for my Ksubi inspired outfit.

Fringe Benefits

I decided to put my Fringe DIY from a few Fridays ago to good use and throw it over a tank top dress form LAmade. Feeling a little 'desert-wanderer' and a lot like Dennis Hopper in Easy Rider, I decided to pair my look with suede black boots from Steven by Steve Madden. Unlike the movie, my evening did not pan out (yes, I did just use a film pun) to be anything like the buddy film. I think Jordan and I just ended up watching old episodes of Community. I DID end up trying on Jordan's leather jacket that his father wore when he used to ride motorcycles... but that just made me feel a little like Kate Moss.
Images from Easy Rider (there IS fringe in this movie I swear)
Oh and here is a picture of Jordan's father who is not wearing the leather jacket but looking v. Easy Rider (Do not worry Mum and Dad, when I do a post on dressing like a disco boy and hanging out at Studio 54 [dad] and a post about dressing like a seriously stylish pre-med student living in Colorado during the 70s [mum], and trust me the time will come, you will see your pics on here too!). Points to us for having cool/stylish parents! Alright, later!

Also, thank Jordan for the grade A post title!

Prada shoes

Do you remember the season that these Prada shoes are from? I do and I can remember feeling like having a pair was a totally necessary thing. They are so 'that season Prada' that I hardly have worn them, which is silly because I have never cared what season something is from and why should I start? Especially with this pair of shoes, I still think that they are beyond cool!
