Today Jordan and I each bought something from the net-a-porter and Mr. Porter sales. We got same day delivery and our packages arrived sometime around 4 30. I wish every place coud do same day delivery! Okay, no more shopping for us!

Friday

IF YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE READING A LONG DESCRIPTION OF FRIDAY HERE IS THE ABRIDGED VERSION: We went out to do a shoot and it turned into a long walk all over lower Manhattan. I stopped and changed into a black maxi dress from American Apparel and I got a slight tan.

THE UNABRIDGED VERSION: On Friday we headed out to do a quick shoot for the magazine, but being us we somehow ended up doing something completely different. We ended up going on one of our usual unplanned walks. I will tell you where we went: First we walked through Nolita and into China Town. We stopped into Opening Ceremony (the red staircase) along the way. We walked through China Town almost to the west side, then decided after all of that craziness that we were in no mood for Soho madness and we kept walking south. We found ourselves in Tribeca where we decided to head East to the Brooklyn Bridge because I have never actually visited it (I know I know I have lived here for three years now, but it is a little out of the way). We stopped in the Bridge Cafe to get drinks and fries, and then headed to the South Street Seaport because we were practically there already. We walked along the water for a little while and then headed back. The pictures are posted chronologically and if it not a picture of Jordan then he took it.
Because we were shooting I stopped into American Apparel along the way to change out of the shoot clothes and into a black cotton maxi dress. Unfortunately I think I am going to age 20 years now because I was not wearing sunscreen on my arms and I got a little color (I have not stepped out into the sun without sunscreen on since I was 15 so we were both a little shocked).

N Y C you there

These photos were taken using a Canon point and shoot that has been modified to shoot infrared. But what we are really trying to say is that the DMM Team will be venturing out of the NYC offices for a little over a week. Jordan is heading west to L.A. and I am heading up north to Vermont. Jordan will be doing field research in addition to meet with some of contributors while I will be styling, shooting, and blogging. In fact I will be keeping a photo diary and will be doing a lot of blogging.

See you soon Manhattan! We will miss you!

DIY Friday

For this weeks DIY Friday my inspiration came from two pictures, which I find to be so beautiful and delicate. One is a picture of soft ballet themed garments and the other is a picture of Siri Tollerød. I think both of the pictures came from either Fydez or Holly's Tumblrs.. (I need to start writing this down).
The total cost of this DIY project is only about 18 dollars and it only involves scissors (a dream come true, no?).

On Thursday I stopped into H&M and picked up a sheer pink tank top for five dollars and a long sleeve shirt for twelve dollars. I bought them both a couple sizes too big so that the tank top would be long enough to be worn as a dress and the top would be loose enough to hang freely.

When I got back to my apartment I put the shirt on over the tank top and marked out where I wanted to make the cut with a pencil. I took the shirt off, I put it on the floor and made an even cut across. That is all!
All photographs taken for this blog (unless otherwise stated) are taken by Jordan Romanoff. He is a lovely photographer (in fact his whole family is photography talented, you may have noticed both his Father's photographs and his sister Zan's photographs in our last issue) and his blog has pictures from coast to coast.

Spring/Summer look updated: Club Monaco Cashmere & Leopard Print Scarf

Yesterday when I was in Soho I bought this new cashmere jumper that was on sale at Club Monaco. I had never actually been to a Club Monaco I do not think. I am not going to lie it was Snejana/their lookbook that made me go into the store (also the fact that the temperature dropped and I was quite cold). I love the fit and how soft it is. It was my gift to myself.

I also bought this leopard print shawl from Bloomingdales, which is lovely because it unfolds into what seems like a small blanket. Also, if you know me you know that I have been in search for ages... maybe a year, for a leopard print scarf that I like. I am excited to say that I found it! With my two new lovely items I put together an outfit that I am excited to wear. It is pretty much the same as my summer time uniform from last summer but with a different pair of ankle boots.

White knit shorts

I kind of have a thing for knit shorts. I have ever since I tried my first pair on at LF in LA during winter break. I love them. They are so feminine and delicate. I got this pair of crocheted white shorts from H&M (everyone else has them too so we can all wear matching outfits, exciting!) and paired them with a silk top from Equipment, a blazer from H&M and my Jeffrey Campbell Litas.

Organization

I did something the other day that made me feel Martha Stewart Organized: I took polaroids of my shoes and put them on the shoe boxes. Most of my shoes are in those clear plastic bins (no polaroids needed) but somehow I have filled more than 20 of them. Rather than buying more clear plastic shoe boxes I decided to put some of my box-less shoes in the leftover boxes from a recent shopping trip.
I still need more boxes for several other pairs of shoes so I can only actually feel half MS organized.

Glo-fi dream-pop

On Sunday Jordan and I wandered over to Soho to get lattes from Balthazar. I am addicted to their soy lattes. They are a source of faux optimism I swear. We drank our lattes and ate pastries in front of the Crosby Street Hotel (much better then sitting in front of the Balthazar bakery).
It was so warm out, it truly felt like Spring.

A Designer's Easter

After much consideration, Jordan and I have decided to celebrate Easter (for the hallmark reason), and by celebrate I mean buying these eggs that you are supposed to fill with candy but we kind of ate it. We blame it on the pristine looking, completely organized, all white Swedish candy shop that is down the street from me. It is where we bought these traditional Swedish Easter Eggs (the real ones are in a museum). In all honesty, I think we are just fascinated with the overly ornate decoration that seems to be so opposite to all of the beautiful/designer porn/efficient quality of contemporary Swedish design.

The owner of the shop told me about how in Sweden they fill the Easter themed containers (which all have these similar looking images on them, the images being based on/the same as the original ones) with regular, non Easter themed candy. I think they are on to something there.

I still think that egg shaped Reese's taste better. #justsayin

A Thursday update on Wednesday morning

When we woke up yesterday we ordered from Balthazar. It was kind of essential because I needed a soy latte and it seems to be the only place that has them. Our walk to class looked like this. We expected rain but the weather turned out to be lovely.

Thursdays are my Fridays and I am in much need of a weekend. One thing I plan to do this weekend: read the stack of magazines waiting for me on my trunk

Tuesday morning... afternoon?

Jordan is beyond nice, he takes pictures of me, occasionally edits them, helps me carry my things to class, poses for photos (by slight force), oh and he can somehow manage to have a smile the whole time. Thank you Jordan!

These pictures were taken when we were walking back from a lecture on Tuesday. The background of my picture looks kind of 'Jean-Luc Godard-esque' to me in a weird way with all of the text and the arrows. Either way, when we got back we reorganized the layout of my apartment. I will post pictures soon
