Hjärtan (jag älskar dig baby!)

Upon waking up our first morning after arriving back in the city, Mariel and I knew what we had to do. We took a walk down the street to our favorite candy store, Sockerbit (which we used for a shoot in our fifth issue). While it is always hard to leave a place that you love for a long time, one of the advantages of being away from Sockerbit was that they had gotten their Valentine's Day candy in, giving us an opportunity to try things we had never tried before. We decided we had to try these new heart shaped chocolates labeled Hjärtan. One of the first things that caught our eyes was the umlaut over the a. Rather than using the standard dots, they had replaced them with little hearts (what total design). As lovers of type, we couldn't help but be endeared by this touch. They are filled with a rich hazelnut praline and go perfectly with a cup of coffee if that's your thing (as recommended by the owners of the store).

Finally, if you are looking for a perfectly sweet Nordic treat to give as a gift on Valentines Day, then we definitely recommend these (or head over to Sockerbit and choose from their selection of equally wonderful Nordic gifts)!

NYFW Street Style

All photos by Jordan Romanoff

Before we get too far away from New York Fashion Week, I have to make sure to post some pictures that we took in and outside of Lincoln Center. Oh and the bird in the first picture is real! I hope everyone had an amazing weekend! Later!

This morning

Today Jordan and I each bought something from the net-a-porter and Mr. Porter sales. We got same day delivery and our packages arrived sometime around 4 30. I wish every place coud do same day delivery! Okay, no more shopping for us!

I will be here

Here are some pictures from this week. The sunsets can be so beautiful in New York City and the sunset two nights ago was so lovely. It was so lovely that I made Jordan run up to his roof with me to take a few pictures. I was happy I was able to get a few until some man chased after us yelling 'LOOK! I took your picture while you were taking a picture of the sunset!' He had taken a few and did not ask for an email or anything like that so we found it a little creepy. So I hope the man with the pictures finds this blog and sends me the pictures he had been taking with an explanation of why he wanted our picture on his iPhone. Note to everyone out there, if you take secret pictures of people you should probably keep it a secret...

Estate Side pics

I am back in the city. Jordan is asleep and I am contemplating putting away the contents of my suitcase, which are now in a pile on the floor. We just got back from doing adult things like buying things at CVS that you do not feel like buying (in my opinion going to a drugstore to buy things that you actually need is very adult). However, even though these CVS trips appear to be ultra responsable on our parts we always end up doing it at like 1:30 in the morning so we are not exactly organized.

Either way, here are some more pictures from my time at home.
1. Looking over Dress Me Mag in my bed at home
2. A picture of Tyler and me that my Father's sports photographer friend took of us when we ran into him downtown
3. Tyler with my poodle Count Hans Axel von Fersen
4. Tyler's robbin tattoo
5. Tyler after the tattoo

Should I sleep or put my clothes away? I guess I will find out! Catch ya later rockstars!

N Y C you there

These photos were taken using a Canon point and shoot that has been modified to shoot infrared. But what we are really trying to say is that the DMM Team will be venturing out of the NYC offices for a little over a week. Jordan is heading west to L.A. and I am heading up north to Vermont. Jordan will be doing field research in addition to meet with some of contributors while I will be styling, shooting, and blogging. In fact I will be keeping a photo diary and will be doing a lot of blogging.

See you soon Manhattan! We will miss you!

Spring/Summer look updated: Club Monaco Cashmere & Leopard Print Scarf

Yesterday when I was in Soho I bought this new cashmere jumper that was on sale at Club Monaco. I had never actually been to a Club Monaco I do not think. I am not going to lie it was Snejana/their lookbook that made me go into the store (also the fact that the temperature dropped and I was quite cold). I love the fit and how soft it is. It was my gift to myself.

I also bought this leopard print shawl from Bloomingdales, which is lovely because it unfolds into what seems like a small blanket. Also, if you know me you know that I have been in search for ages... maybe a year, for a leopard print scarf that I like. I am excited to say that I found it! With my two new lovely items I put together an outfit that I am excited to wear. It is pretty much the same as my summer time uniform from last summer but with a different pair of ankle boots.

Shorts: William Rast
Tank top: Juicy Couture
Ankle Boots: Steven by Steve Madden

White knit shorts

I kind of have a thing for knit shorts. I have ever since I tried my first pair on at LF in LA during winter break. I love them. They are so feminine and delicate. I got this pair of crocheted white shorts from H&M (everyone else has them too so we can all wear matching outfits, exciting!) and paired them with a silk top from Equipment, a blazer from H&M and my Jeffrey Campbell Litas.

Happy Sunday/May 1st

Happy Sunday everyone/Happy May 1st! I am not exactly sure of what you are supposed to wear on May Day, the only time I ever even came close to a May Day celebration was when I saw a May Pole at a Kentucky Derby party... and everyone there was dressed for the Kentucky Derby despite the fact that we were watching it off of a television screen in Vermont.
Either way... yesterday, during our time in Soho I found these black knit shorts on sale at Topshop. I know everyone is kind of obsessed with Topshop but I find it t be kind of terrifying, especially when there is a sale. I was hesitant to go inside but then I thought why not. Despite the fact that I came out with these shorts, I think it is safe to say, do not go into Topshop during a sale. It was complete madness.
Tank top: Ever
Jumper: H&M
Wedges: Jeffrey Campbell
Whistle: Best Made Co.

Saturday and Elin Kling

On Saturday morning Jordan and I went to get a latte and a soy latte at Balthazars. On the way there I ran into/met Elin Kling who is quite nice and beyond pretty. It was the first time I have ever been star struck I think. I was in so much shock I probably seemed completely weird... très ew. But it did not last long, soon Jordan and I were back to drifting our way into Soho in need of lattes.
I wore my american flag tank, jeans from J Brand, and Marc by Marc Jacobs leopard print flats.

Organization

I did something the other day that made me feel Martha Stewart Organized: I took polaroids of my shoes and put them on the shoe boxes. Most of my shoes are in those clear plastic bins (no polaroids needed) but somehow I have filled more than 20 of them. Rather than buying more clear plastic shoe boxes I decided to put some of my box-less shoes in the leftover boxes from a recent shopping trip.
I still need more boxes for several other pairs of shoes so I can only actually feel half MS organized.

Glo-fi dream-pop

On Sunday Jordan and I wandered over to Soho to get lattes from Balthazar. I am addicted to their soy lattes. They are a source of faux optimism I swear. We drank our lattes and ate pastries in front of the Crosby Street Hotel (much better then sitting in front of the Balthazar bakery).
It was so warm out, it truly felt like Spring.
